Rebuilding The Cafeteria

School lunch is critical to student health and well-being, especially for low-income students—and ensures that students have the nutrition they need throughout the day to learn.

The school (L’Ecole Ébénézè de Fèvre) kitchen used to prepare food for 400 students. In 2019, the school kitchen was rebuilt and converted to a full size cafeteria. The new construction also featured a modern (for the area) kitchen with a pavilion-type cafeteria space where the students can gather to eat, as opposed to eating in their classroom as they previously had been doing.

A kitchen-diner, very close to the main buildings, with a capacity of 32 people and an area of elaboration, cooking and scrubbing. This is developed with concrete structure, block walls and light cover.

Thanks to this new construction, the cafeteria now has a multipurpose use. During school days, it is used to prepare food for students. And on weekends, it serves as a pantry for the church to serve the community, giving out free meals when possible.
